The book is not the whole story.
My lived experience did not end when the pages did. It carried forward into transformative organizing, advocacy, and the ongoing work of building spaces where people impacted by systems of care and trauma are not just included, but valued, trusted, and heard.
That work lives through The Lost & Found Institute — a nonprofit organization rooted in healing, humanity, and liberation, and led by those with lived experience. It is where survival is met with care, where truth is not extracted but honored, and where people are supported in reclaiming themselves beyond what systems tried to define.
This website exists to hold complexity.
This space is for people who understand that healing is not linear and rarely quiet. For those who carry what they’ve lived into their bodies, their relationships, their parenting, and their work, long after the crisis is over and the world expects you to be “okay.”
This space is for:
Survivors and system impacted people to know healing doesn’t follow timelines.
Readers who want honesty over comfort and truth without being softened.
People working toward justice who understand that systems leave lasting marks and that fighting them often comes with a cost.
This space is about naming what remains. About honoring survival without demanding perfection. About telling the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.
The book moves through memory rather than linear redemption, holding what is often left out of conversations about resilience
